As a Co-Managing Affiliate with Coastal Vision and NVISION, Dr. Hoang can perform pre- and post-op visits for lasik and cataract surgeries.
LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a vision correction procedure used to correct most ranges of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK is not only minimally-invasive, but it is also a highly effective procedure that can vastly reduce a person’s dependence on glasses or contact lenses. LASIK causes little or no discomfort and improves vision.
During the LASIK prescreening, we will examine your eyes and perform a comprehensive test to make sure that this procedure is right for you. The screening includes:
- Dry eye testing
- Visual acuity and refractive error
- Pupil size in low & medium light
- General health of the eyes
- Corneal topography & corneal thickness
Remember, it is advised that your prescription is stable/unchanging before undergoing any refractive surgery procedure. But it is also hard to predict whether the prescription will stay stable after the procedure. Luckily some surgeons do offer LASIK enhancements for life, meaning that they will perform an additional surgery if your prescription has changed. There are risks and limitations to doing multiple surgeries on your eyes. This is something that should be discussed at your LASIK consult with the ophthalmologist.
